Born in Oshawa Ontario her music has taken her across Canada to both East and West coasts appearing on several Radio shows in Ontario and Vancouver that featured her songs about beautiful Canadian cities and her life experiences. In 2005 she released her first independent album "Moments to Arise" recorded at Chalet Studios in Claremont followed by her second album "In Your Bed" 2012 recorded at Suspend Studios in Oshawa which she was awarded in her home town as Female Vocalist of the year by the Durham Region Music Society. This bright artist is continually growing and evolving, captivating her audiences always digging to connect to her listeners deeply and intimately through her songs.
Some of her influences have been Singer Songwriter and Juno winner David Francey who the Song "The Concert" was written for and who affectionately titled the song has also been a great mentor and supporter. Melanie’s biggest inspirations and influences have been other Canadian artists like Joni Mitchell, Kathleen Edwards, Neil Young, Ric Lafontaine, Irene Jackson and of course fellow Songsmiths of Southern Ontario like The Stables, Craig McMillan, GT Harris, Grainne Ryan, Brad MacArthur and Poor Pelly.
Currently Melanie is working on writing her next album also fulfilling a lifelong dream of teaching music to underprivileged children in Nepal next year with and organization close to her heart org4peace
